Yew
Cheong is an up and coming artiste, trained by Joanna Wong and Lou Mee Wah. He is highly commended for his acting and singing
skills. In his 20 years of training and performing, he has performed overseas on several occasions. Apart from numerous opera
excerpts, he has performed lead roles in several full-length operas such as War and Romance, High Command, Errors at Hua Tian
and The Yang Family.
In August 2002, Gary and a few other opera enthusiasts
set up the Chinese Cultural Arts Centre. He was the lead male artiste in the opera 'The Princess and the Thief' which was
presented by the CCAC in March 2003. Sally Low was the lead female artiste. He dressed as a female in one of the scenes.

In
October 2001, the Lion's Club of Singapore Central Link staged 'Cantonese Opera Potpourri' to raise funds for the construction
of it's second home for the elderly. COP featured an all-male cast and was a
showcase of Gary's opera skills. Gary performed five opera excerpts with Christopher Choo, Phillip Chan, Richard Lee, Leong
Kam Fai, and Chow Chun Hong.
