Tham Fung Meng learnt Cantonese opera from the Chinese Theatre Circle, Tung On Wui Koon as well as from acclaimed artistes in China. In 1988, she was the leader of the Echo Cantonese Opera Group at Eunos Community Centre. In 1998 she formed the Yi Meng Cantonese Opera Group. In 1999 she performed Princess Turandot with Wu Suet Yee. She partnered Wu Suet Yee again in  three opera excerpts in 2000. In 2001 she performed 5 opera excerpts with well-known artistes from China including Li Seok Ken.
