A Taiwanese businessman bought the building
for $50 million after the theatre
was restored to its Victorian architectural
splendour. He later donated it to the
Singapore branch of the Taiwan-based Tzu Chi
Foundation, a Buddhist charity
group, which now occupies the premises.
